Privacy Policy
Effective October 29, 2026. Last updated October 29, 2026.
SiteLocals ("we", "us") helps independent sellers find local businesses, build websites for them, and manage the sale. This policy explains what information we collect, why we collect it, and the choices you have. It applies to sitelocals.com and the SiteLocals app.
Information we collect
Account information. When you sign in, we collect your email address. Signing in works through a link or a one-time code sent to that email. If you give us a display name or business details for your seller profile, we store those too.
Content you create. Websites, bio link pages, booking pages, deals, pop-ups, review drafts, client records, and settings you create in SiteLocals are stored so the service can run and show them to the people you share them with.
Payments. Subscriptions and purchases are processed by Stripe. Stripe collects and stores your card details; we never see or store your full card number. We receive and store subscription status, plan, and billing identifiers so we can run your account.
Usage and analytics. We collect basic usage data such as pages visited, features used, device and browser type. When enabled, we use Google Analytics to understand how the service is used in aggregate.
Location. The Find map works around a location you search for, a spot you save, or, if you allow it, your browser's location. If the browser blocks location, we may use an approximate location based on your connection. We do not track your location in the background.
Business listing data. SiteLocals displays public information about businesses, such as business name, category, address, phone number, and whether the business has a website. This data comes from public sources, mainly OpenStreetMap contributors, the Overture Maps Foundation, and Geoapify. It is business contact information published for the public, not information we collect from the businesses directly.
How we use information
We use the information above to run the service: signing you in, building and hosting your pages, processing subscriptions, showing relevant businesses on the map, providing support, keeping the service secure, and improving features. We do not use your account information for advertising, and we do not sell personal information.
Who we share information with
We share information only with the providers that run parts of the service: Supabase (accounts and database), Stripe (payments), Vercel (hosting), and Google (analytics, when enabled). Map data is loaded from OpenStreetMap and OpenFreeMap tile services, which receive the map area your browser requests, the same as any website map. We may disclose information if the law requires it or to protect the rights and safety of our users. If the business is ever sold, account information would transfer with it, and we would tell you first.
Cookies
SiteLocals uses a small number of cookies and similar browser storage:
- sp_session (essential): keeps you signed in for up to seven days. The site cannot sign you in without it, so it is always on and is not part of the consent choice.
- _ga and _ga_* (analytics, only with your permission): set by Google Analytics to tell visits apart and measure usage in aggregate. These load only after you accept in the cookie banner, and accepting is never required to use the site.
- Browser local storage (functional): remembers practical things like your last map position and your cookie choice. It never leaves your device.
You can change your analytics choice at any time with the Cookie settings link in the footer. Blocking cookies in your browser also works; signing in will not work without the essential session cookie.
Your choices and rights
You can ask us to show you the personal information we hold about you, to correct it, or to delete your account and its data. You can also stop marketing emails at any time from the unsubscribe link in the email. Depending on where you live, including California and the European Economic Area, you may have additional rights such as data portability and the right to object to certain processing. We answer requests within a reasonable time and never charge for them.
If you own a listed business
Business listings come from public sources and can contain mistakes. If a listing for your business is wrong, or you want it removed from SiteLocals, contact us and we will correct or remove it. Correcting the source data at OpenStreetMap as well keeps it from reappearing when data refreshes.
Retention and security
We keep account information while your account is open and for a reasonable period afterward for billing records and legal duties. We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information, including encrypted connections and access controls. No online service can promise perfect security.
Children
SiteLocals is a tool for businesses and the people who sell to them. It is not directed to children, and you must be at least 18 years old, or have the authority to act for a business, to use it.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy in a way that matters, we will update the date at the top of this page and, for significant changes, tell account holders by email or in the app before the change takes effect.
